Choosing the Right Sign Material: Bond vs. Coro (Corrugated Plastic)

When ordering a custom sign, choosing the right material is just as important as the design itself. The material you pick determines how your sign is displayed, how long it lasts, and how it handles the elements.

At SignKing.com, we offer two highly popular options for outdoor and indoor signage: Bond (Aluminum Composite) and Coro (Corrugated Plastic). Here is a breakdown of their differences to help you choose the perfect fit for your project.

What is Bond Material?

Bond (often referred to as aluminum composite or Dibond) is a premium, heavy-duty signage material. It features a solid, rigid core sandwiched between two flat sheets of aluminum, making it exceptionally durable and sleek.

  • Edging: The material is completely solid on all edges, giving it a clean, high-end, and professional finish.

  • Mounting: It is best suited for hanging or mounting. We can easily add grommets on the top or corners so you can securely hang it on frames, walls, or posts.

  • Best For: Long-term outdoor use, permanent real estate signs, store architectural signage, and high-wind environments where bending is not an option.

What is Coro Material?

Coro (short for Coroplast or corrugated plastic) is the industry standard for lightweight, cost-effective, and temporary signage. If you've ever seen a classic yard sign, you've seen Coro.

  • Structure: The material is vertically fluted, meaning it has hollow ribs running through the inside (similar to a plastic cardboard).

  • Mounting: Because of these internal flutes, it is perfectly designed to use with wire H-stakes that slide directly into the sign and push into the ground. (Note: Grommets on top are also okay if you prefer to hang it instead!)

  • Best For: Temporary outdoor advertising, campaign signs, event directional signs, and classic "House For Sale" yard signs.

Summary Comparison: Bond vs. Coro

Which Material Should You Choose?

  • Choose Bond if you need a permanent, premium-looking sign that will hang from a rigid frame or mount flat against a wall.

  • Choose Coro if you need an affordable, lightweight solution that can be quickly staked into grass or soil for roadside visibility.
